Direction specific or stabilization exercises for chronic low back pain patients: a randomized controlled trial

چکیده
Introduction Low back pain (LBP) remains a leading cause of disability and is one of the most prevalent and costly conditions treated in primary care (Hayden et al, 2005a). In the UK, the total direct and indirect costs have been estimated at between £5 and £10 billion, with the majority of this absorbed by indirect societal costs (Maniadakis and Gray, 2000). Similar high costs exist in other countries, where data is available (Dagenais et al, 2008), and it is likely that the situation is similar in the Czech Republic. In 2004, in the Czech Republic about 19% of total work compensation was for musculoskeletal incapacity to work, compared to 40% for respiratory illness and 12% for trauma and poisoning (Říha, 2008). A minority of those with chronic or persistent symptoms appear to absorb the majority of the costs; it is estimated that 15% of the back pain population absorbs about 70% of total costs (Linton et al, 1998).

The Effects of Lumbar Stabilization Exercise Program Using Respiratory Resistance on Pain, Dysfunction, Psychosocial Factor, Respiratory Pressure in Female Patients in ’40s with Low Back Pain: Randomized Controlled Trial
Background. Middle-aged women are at risk of musculoskeletal disorders because of the decreased muscle mass and bone density caused by a decreased endocrine function. Objectives. This study investigated the effectiveness of a stabilization exercise using respiratory resistance on female patients in their 40s with low back pain. Methods. Forty-four female patients in their 40s with low back pa...
متن کاملthe effects of core stabilization exercise on Reduce pain, physical function and risk of falling in elderly women with chronic nonspecific low back pain
Aims and background: Non-specific chronic low back pain is the most common type of chronic low back pain. The use of rehabilitation to achieve a more rapid improvement in patient with chronic low back Pain has always been taken into account. Materials and methods: This study was a semi-experimental, and its design was two-groups with pretestposttest. For this purpose, 40 elderly women pati...

متن کاملEffect of Stabilization Exercise on Lumbar Multifidus Muscle Thickness in Patients with Non-specific Chronic Low Back Pain
Objectives: In a single blinded randomized controlled study, we investigated the effect of stabilization exercise on lumbar multifidus muscle thickness in patients with non-specific chronic low back pain. Low Back Pain is highly prevalent and results in considerable level of disability. Many causes have been associated with weakness or injury of the soft tissues in the lumbar area. Methods: ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Core Stability Exercises Combined with Abdominal Hollowing on Postural Balance in Patients with Non-Specific Chronic Low Back Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Purpose Altered movement patterns and spine instability are important factors in the etiology of chronic non-specific low back pain (CNSLBP). The faulty recruitment pattern of core muscles causes poor support and increased loading on the lumbar spine and ultimately leads to postural instability. The aim of this study is the effect of core stability exercises (CSE) combined with abdominal hollow...
متن کاملEffects of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization and Aquatic Exercises on the Pain, Disability, Lumbopelvic Control, and Spinal Posture of Patients With Non-specific Low Back Pain
Objectives: Using an exercise intervention to improve lumbopelvic control (LPC) can enhance the pain severity and disability of participants with non-specific low back pain (NSLBP). The present study aimed to compare dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS) exercises and common aquatic exercises (AEs) in terms of improving the pain, disability, LPC, and spinal posture of patients with non-spec...
